Ron and Jo’s Journey: From Renters to Happy Homeowners

April 4, 2024 Posted by Renee Duval First Time Home Buyers No Comments

A Success Story of Perseverance and Support In A Crazy Market

Turning Challenges into Opportunities

Ron and Jo had been renting their cozy apartment for years, paying a reasonable $1000 per month. But when the pandemic hit, their landlord decided to increase the rent—twice! Suddenly, they found themselves shelling out $1800 each month, and the dream of homeownership began to take shape.

With $5000 in savings, Ron and Jo wondered if it would be enough for a down payment and closing costs. They were determined to find a way to escape the rental cycle and build equity in their own home. That’s when they met Renée, their mortgage advisor, and everything changed.

Guidance and Opportunity

Renée sat down with Ron and Jo, patiently explaining their options. She revealed an exciting possibility: they were eligible for $10,000 in cash assistance from NH Housing. Their eyes widened—the path to homeownership suddenly seemed more attainable.

Renée crunched the numbers. Based on their financial situation, Ron and Jo could qualify for a mortgage payment of $2700 per month. This amount would include not only the principal and interest but also 1/12th of the annual property taxes and insurance. It was a comprehensive package that made sense for their budget.

The Search Begins

Armed with newfound hope, Ron and Jo embarked on their home search. Renée introduced them to a fabulous REALTOR who understood their needs and aspirations. The market conditions were competitive, and they felt the pressure to act swiftly. But Renée’s reassurance and transparent guidance kept them grounded and educated throughout the process.

Educational Offers and Persistence

Their first, second, or even third offer wasn’t accepted, but Ron and Jo learned valuable lessons during the process. Each rejection was an opportunity to refine their approach. Renee was there as they searched, providing them with numbers so they could see the payment and costs of each house they considered.   They persisted, visiting seven houses until they found “the one.”

On their fourth offer, the stars aligned. Thanks to Renée’s strong preapproval and their REALTOR’s negotiation skills, they secured their dream home. The excitement was palpable as they signed the papers, knowing they were no longer renters but proud homeowners.

A Grateful Journey

Today, Ron and Jo have transformed their house into a home. They’ve painted walls, planted flowers, and personalized every corner. Their gratitude extends to NH Housing’s fabulous programs, and Renee that was the guiding light which helped them make their dream a reality. They’ve not only gained a home but also a sense of stability and pride.

Ron and Jo’s journey reminds us that with the right support, determination, and a dash of courage, homeownership is within reach—even in challenging times. Cheers to Ron, Jo, and their new chapter as homeowners! 🏡🔑✨
